I went to my mum's for dinner and it was good to see her. :) As I was getting ready to leave though, she said 'what's this I hear about you singing?', saying Patrick's mum had been gushing to her. I told her I put a video on youtube and she accused me of trying to be the next Susan Boyle! haha
Anyway, it's not great and it's embarrassing but now it's on the internet it's fair game really:

I've been feeling supremely shit today and yesterday, despite spending an ace night in Cav last night. Making a study timetable in order to keep busy so I don't mope made me feel a lot better, so starting tomorrow let's hope I can stick to it. I've never been good at planning studying, I usually just do what I feel. The way I've been feeling though, I really need a bit of a change, even if it is a boring and sensible one.
Need to start having early nights too so I'm off to bed. :)
Need to start having early nights too so I'm off to bed. :)
I keep making silly errors. Like I left the flat to go to a lecture and my flatmate pointed out it wasn't for another hour. Common sense and brain cells have deserted me. :(
I am a crazy bitch. I sometimes wish Facebook hadn't been invented. I keep going on his bloody page and this girl keeps posting, and even though I know they're just friends I keep wanting to throttle her. Need to step back.
Also feel like such an idiot at uni. I genuinely feel like I've lost common sense and English Lit knowledge over the last few months. However, tomorrow I plan to get up early and study my bum off. Hope it pays off. I'm thinking I should probably get back on the dissertation case too. Was feeling pretty down about it last week, but I'm more motivated and have a better idea now. :)
It was really good to see mum again though. She went to India in September for 3 weeks and got back last week but this was the first chance I got to go home. Always feel down when I leave though, even though I'm loving flat life. I just worry about her on her own. She keeps busy though. Bah.
Fairy tales are still ace. I'm going as Little Red for Halloween - going all sexed up and twisted like, with a corset and fake blood and an axe, and possibly a wolf mask in a basket of baked treats. I love Halloween!

I had to take the day of uni today even though I really didn't want to miss any classes this year. I'm going to miss out on dinner at the other flat too (remember Susie, the girl whose parents own our flat?). Bleh. I have no food except cereal either so Crunch Nut for dinner!
I would like these kittens to dance about on my bed of pain and plague. This cheered me up a lot. :3

So, I haven't updated in ages.
4th year is pretty good so far and I love my courses, especially the fairy tales one. I need to stay ahead with the reading though and I haven't even started thinking about dissertation stuff yet. :/
I also broke up with Patrick on Friday, after 2 years and 9 months. It totally sucks. The break-up itself was surprisingly nice; we both cried (me especially) and hugged and talked, and then went out for lunch, which was strangely not awkward. I'm at the horrible stage, past crying but just feeling pretty fucking depressed about the whole thing. I initiated it though, and figured it would be for the best. I can't go back on that now just because I miss it and am looking back on the nice memories. I really, really miss him though. We just had so much fun together and never even argued, and I'm definitely a better person for having been through this relationship. It'll be weird though because we've been friends for so long and want to stay in each others lives, but I guess we need to spend some time apart. I even get on really well with all his family and went on holiday with them. Bleh.
It doesn't help that I feel ill and don't have any paracetamol left. I don't want to keep pestering my flatmates for some, so I need to go get stuff tomorrow. It's just a sore head and throat but it is pretty annoying, and isn't improving my mood any.
My flatmates have been really nice about it though and after I got back from Dundee (where Patrick is at college) they had made me a cheesecake. My friend Siobhan also made me brownies, so I'm full of baked goods.
On the plus side, I've gotten into J-drama thanks to Gioia. Totally loving them. Made it through Hana Kimi, Hana Yori Dango 1&2 and I'm now watching 1 Litre of Tears (sad but good).
Sorry for the rant. :/

Also, last night was my nephew's 7th birthday so I went round there for dinner and we played charades. It was so, so funny and playing it with a 7-year-old who is very sweet. Couldn't get half of what he was trying to do but I did get Back to the Future which just consisted of him walking backwards. It's a shame that his birthday is in summer and all his friends were busy though. My brother says next year they'll have another thing later so the kids will be back.
I am all moved out and the internet was installed yesterday! So exciting. I can't wait until people can come round and see it. :D

Moving out on Monday (technically tomorrow). Eeeee!

Job hunting still. Going about town tomorrow to flail and fling CVs at people/buildings.
I went along to help my sister out on a P2 trip today to Aberdour beach. It was fine, except I burnt the top of my forehead and the score in my hair. Ow. Most of the kids were sweet, but I found it a bit sad that some kids just don't know how to play and need to be entertained constantly. I got hugs from some of the girly girls though :3

I just got off the phone with il boyfriendo. I was in a very silly mood and was laughing for ages and ages (possibly at my own silliness) at one point. I hoped it wasn't too annoying for him but he said he didn't mind and wished he could see me as he seems to like my hyper moods for some reason. Silly chat is fun. :D
Also stayed over at his after Nessa's birthday night and tried to wake him up by leaping and jumping about on the bed and being quite a pest. Probably not the best, but he wasn't too hungover.
The weekend was really good. Got to see lots of Laura and the pirate night was ace. I was in a silly mood then too, especially on the bus there, when we all said 'yarrr' back to a group of lads who shouted it at us and Vanessa had bubble wands! Bubbles can make anyone slightly hyper I say...
I noticed today that two of my Cs were 59%, which is one mark off a B. Damn.
Hopefully going out for lunch with girlies at some point. Kat phoned me and said the manager was seeing Britney Spears in London (yay?) which is why he hasn't emailed about interviews yet. Phew.
Some of the degree show is on at Edinburgh Art College (me and Laura had a look at glass since that's what she's coming back to do in September) so I want to see some of that too.
Seeing Last Chance Harvey with mum on Wednesday too. Hee.
I like summer and being busy with fun things. Need a job for money though.

Quick update before I batten down the hatches. Savvy? Arrr. And other such pirate phrases.
I've had most of my exam results back! 2Bs and 3Cs :D Just two more to hear about. I'm pleased with that. I'd love to get an A in an essay next year though...That would be amazing (and difficult. Damn Edinburgh and their harsh marking system.)

I've been busy seeing friends and family lately, which has been really nice. My friend Vanessa is having her birthday night out on Saturday and it's pirate themed, so I need to rummage around and find something. We're going to the Mission (goth club I used to go to under 18s nights when I was 14/15) and it'll be weird going back... My friend Laura is also coming up from Leicester so we're dragging her along. :)
I'm not sure if I'm going on any holidays this year but a few days in London would be nice. I need to save as much money as possible for moving out. JULY 6TH!
I've been sleeping too much :/
Still haven't had any exam results back yet, or an email about my interview next week (though apparently that's because the guy's been away). Eek.
The sun is out though and I'm starting to reread Harry Potter 5. Happy times. I can't remember much about the 6th and 7th ones to be honest, so will be good to read them again.
Off to find Nessa a present...

I can't believe how sunny it's been the past few days! Everyone is all happy outside and dressed in summery clothes - it's ace! I absolutely love summer vibes; I just hope it lasts.
I've been outside in the garden a lot and going to the beach with people. Bottle of wine + girlies + beach = perfect recipe for a lovely night.
I've been reading a little bit too. I read The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. The latter was alright but Five People was brilliant and made me cry three times, which considering it's only 200 pages, is pretty impressive. Such a lovely book.
Job hunting is moving forward a little bit. I think my CV and work experience is pretty good, I just need to be a bit more confident in interviews and stuff.
I went to see White Lies the night before His Dark Materials. They were really good live and the guy's voice was really powerful and energetic. Go youtube them if you haven't heard of them.

Fanfiction-y note: I'm really excited about the
rs_games. Will be ace to see what fics and art people come up with. I signed up too! :D Might be a chance to write something a little bit longer than my usual drabbles too.

I haven't been online as much as usual but here's a quick update before I look at my flist.
I finished reading Neverwhere and really enjoyed it. It's my first experience of Neil Gaiman's style and I love his humor and the way he creates worlds and characters. I particularly loved the bad guys, I thought they were ace :)
On Sunday I went to see the play of His Dark Materials. Amazing! I only wish the film had come out after and maybe they could have taken some pointers. I was sceptical about whoever would play Will since he's my favourite character but all the actors were great. Lyra and Will were played by adults, maybe in their early twenties, but when they were on stage their age kind of went out of your head since they really got into the role. Their accents were great too and they all played off each other.
The sets were quite simple but effective. They had a bridge in the background for Azriel to go over and they had lights to represent the Dust and the witches and harpies had sliding ladders to balance on.
The puppetry was one of my favourite things. They had people controlling the daemons and after a while you hardly noticed them, but when you did they were totally into it with their facial expressions. :)
The pacing was really good too and they didn't miss out much, except Mary Malone's character was taken out and Serafina Pekkala told them a similar story instead. I thought that was cool though.

I'm loving series 2 of Flight of the Conchords so far. The songs on episode 2 were particularly hilarious. :D If you don't know what I'm talking about:
I saw this before the episode and thought Bret was saying "six" rather than "sex". I am dumb.
I'm hoping to start reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman today. Anyone read it? I need to go find a birthday present for my friend though. I find boys tricky to buy for.
Geek related note: I wrote and posted 3 fics yesterday. I'm pretty pleased with them :)

Uh, I would definitely see this.
Not much to report. I went out to lunch for a friend's 21st and I'm going out tonight to say goodbye to a friend before she goes to Rum for five weeks to tag deer (I'm guessing it's up north somewhere).
Going to see a play of His Dark Materials on Sunday, and I reeeally hope they do a good job of it. It's split into two parts, one in the afternoon and one at night, so hopefully they fit it all in and plan it out well. I hated the Golden Compass film, so anything is an improvement on that.
